I've been trolling through the archives of the recently-discovered-by-me Bane's Demense, as is my wont with new blogs I find interesting, and came across a post where Sloan (Lady Bane's husband, who was filling in for her on the blog at the time because she was away) explains his decision to learn German and Russian and his aversion to French. I share his aversion to French and, though the origins of our dislike are different (frankly, I don't know where my dislike of the French language comes from, exactly), I totally relate to the irrationality of his dislike and the reasons for it: the silent letters, etc. And I've gotten the same reaction as he has from those who think French is beautiful and romantic and all that silly nonsense.
Anyway, just wanted to show some solidarity with my French-hating brethren. And I just felt like bashing the French, which is always fun.
