"Geek" "Culture"
If some vacuous "reality" show about geeks has any worth, it is in inspiring critical analysis such as in this article. "Geek"/"nerd" "culture" has become nothing more than a marketing demographic and a lot of people being fans of being fans and thinking that makes them special. As long-time readers know, I am a strong advocate of geek/nerd pride, but the kind of pride that is inclusive and affirming and empowering, not the Pride that is exclusive and ego-stroking and entitled, and there is far too much of the latter these days in "geek" "culture," as regularly reported by people such as Dorian Wright and many others. We should be better, folks!

Geek culture is often self-deprecating too. Be proud you got an A in calculus!
I actually wasn't good at math. Not that kind of nerd!
