Congratulations to OPENLY gay diver Matthew Mitcham for breaking China's diving winning streak by winning gold in the 10 meter platform event! I caught that last dive, the one he got a bunch of tens with, and it was indeed incredible. Even though he's Australian and it's, thus, like, traitorous of me, I still couldn't be prouder (see what I did there?) that one of the few openly gay Olympic athletes came out on top (or bottom, if that's his thing). Suck it, homophobes!
BTW, after watching him run over to his coach by the side of the pool, and wave to the camera, the fact that NBC just happened to not mention the gay thing is irrelevant: boy is gaaaaaaaaaaaaaay!
