The Golden Crane Flies...

Robert Jordan has died. His The Wheel of Time series is what first got me into fantasy fiction in a big way. Though the series has groaned under its own weight for a number of years now, and I can't say I've read the latest ones more out a sense of duty and stubbornness than excitement, it was still a most important influence on my reading life.

On a more personal note, I attended a signing/reading in Philly for the last book, and he was a perfectly charming man with a lovely wife. My condolences go out to her and all his other friends and family.
