Pride
A gay rights protest in Russia turned very, very ugly. It's very sobering to see, not just read but see, how dangerous it is just to be who you are in many parts of the world. It's also inexplicably pride-inducing to see my brethren and sistren be so brave. I wish I knew for certain if I would or would not have their courage. The fact that there is a very big doubt makes me more than a little sad.

I think we all have those fears. That's why we need to support each other.
Well, gayprof, you have MY support. I worry about you, you know, down there in Reddest Texas.
I worry about me down here in reddest Texas as well.
Soon, though, I will be in Blue Boston.
This bothered me a great deal when I read about it. I had always hoped that the Russians would teach us a thing or two about capitalism and free society, having suffered without one for so very, very long, but it doesn't look like it.
PS -- Sistren?
"Sistren" is the female equivalent of "brethren." "Brethren," technically only pertains to a group of men, though we use it to mean any collection of people. "Sistren" is rather rare, but I like it, so I use it.
