I just bought a copy of this edition of Common Sense by Thomas Paine. I just can't get over how pretty the cover is! The picture really doesn't do it justice. It's just a lovely with its shades of blue and a little silver and colorful Boston Massacre print.
Yes, yes, I know, "don't judge a book by its cover" and all that jazz, but I don't care! It's pretty!

It would be cool to set up a communal blog that would review book covers and compare them with their content, or simply review a book cover in order to asess whether, based on its design, the text might be worth reading. I've always been fascinated by book covers and the thought that goes into their design. It would be a different type of book blog, indeed.
That's a really cool idea, C! There are lots of (hilarious) blog postings making fun of bad book covers, but one like you describe would be neater.
