I think I need to be a schizo to see the 'nude descending on staircare'. Is this what they call avant-garde.

It's from the early twentieth-century, so it's not "contemporary," but I guess you could say it was "avant-garde." It's definitely abstract. Duchamp was trying to capture the MOVEMENT of the nude descending the staircase, not really the nude itself. It's sort of like twenty different pictures, each of a different moment of the descent, jammed onto one canvas.

Generally, I like my art more representational, but something about this picture gets me.
